Michael Vick's 15 acre estate that served as his dogfighting headquarters failed to sell at an auction on Saturday. The property is currently owned by Wilbur Ray Todd Jr., who rejected the $747,000 final bid, which was the assessed value of the property.
Michael Vick, former NFL Atlanta Falcons football player and three co-defendants raised pitt bulls and trained them for fighting in the woods behind the 4,600 square foot white brick house. Michael Vick paid $34,000 for the tract of land in 2002 and had the house built. Some of the dogfights were held on the second floor of one of the outbuildings. Remnants of Michael Vick's, Bad Newz Kennels, still remain in the form of a metal pole and a chain used for restrianing the pit bulls still remain.
Vick sold the property for $450,000 to Todd, who spent $50,000 more to fix up the place which had been trashed. Todd stated that, "By the time you pay a commission and taxes, it gets eaten up real quick." The $250,000 profit from the auction was not enough considering this.
