Unfortunately Washington Redskins Safety, Sean Taylor died early Tuesday morning following surgery for a gunshot wound which hit his femoral artery in his leg. He lost extensive amounts of blood and underwent 7 hours of surgery. The assailant was a yet unknown intruder into former Washington Redskins safety Taylor's home near Palmetto Beach Florida.

This is from a statement from his father Pedro Taylor and his family: "It is with deep regret that a young man had to come to his end so soon. Many of his fans loved him because of the way he played football.  Many of his opponents feared him the way he approached the football game.  Others misunderstood him and his family loved him."

Clinton Portis, Washington Redskins teammate and also former Miami Dolphins teammate stated, "...ever since he had his child, it was like a new Sean, and everybody around here knew it.  He was always smiling, always happy, always talking about his child."

Roger Goodell, commissioner said Sean Taylor would be honored at all NFL games this weekend. The team plans to establish a memorial site at the Washington Redskins training complex and FedEx Field.
