Coach Tony Dungy expects Peyton Manning, star quarterback for the Indianapolis Colts to be ready fro the opening game of the new NFL season. Six weeks ago Peyton Manning had surgery to remove an infected bursa sac from his knee. He has not played in any of the Colt’s 5 pre-season games.
Manning was removed from the physically unable to perform list on Tuesday. He warmed up and got suited for their final pre-season game on Thursday, but did not play.
"What we wanted to do was really kind of simulate what he was going to do on game day, see how everything felt and see if he wanted to alter his routine for next Sunday," Dungy said.
Coach Dungy expects Peyton Manning to run out at their new Lucas Oil Stadium on Sunday, September 6 for their first game against the Chicago Bears. In Manning’s 10-year NFL career he has never missed a start.
"I would be shocked if he's not there (a week from) Sunday," Dungy said.
"He would have to have a dramatic setback. Right now, every step we've taken has been good."
"I think he came away feeling pretty good about it.
"He told me on the sidelines that if he started, he would have felt in good shape and ready to go."
