Lt. Colonel Gegg Gadson who lost both legs by an improvised explosive device in Iraq May 2007 will be Honorary Captain for the New York Giants Super Bowl XLII game today. He was also on the sidelines at their victories over the Green Bay Packers, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and  the Washington Redskins. Gadson and Giants wide receivers coach Mike Sullivan were classmates and football teammates at West Point.

The New York Giants and coach Tom Coughlin repect Gadson and the sacrifice he has made so that we can all be free. They feel Gadson has been an inspiration to the football team and has become a special figure to the players and coaches this year.

Gadson stated, "It's overwhelming and I'm completely honored that they felt this way about me.  I certainly feel that way about them.  It has been a unique experience.  Eight months ago I never would have imagined that my life would have been turned upside down and I'd have these things happen to me. I'm just fighting to get it back together agian.  Here I am now going out as an Honorary Captain for the New York Giants."
