Green bay Packers

Long johns, blankets, toe warmers, hand wamers, face masks, scarves - may help keep all the Green Bay Packers and New York Giants NFL football fans warm today, but the fire inside everyone for their NFL team to win is what will keep every fan in Lambeau stadium warm.

For the first time since the 1996 NFL season, the Packers will gather on this field with a chance for a potential #13 chance of going to the Super Bowl. This NFL game will be played on their own terms in the type of bitter cold for which this stadium and town so famous. The temperature is predicted to be 1 degree, with a wind chill 30 below. It could be the 2nd coldest game at Green Bay's Lambeau stadium, behind the 1967 Ice Bowl, a day game where the temperature was 13 below at kickoff.

Here is part of what will keep the NFL fans and football players fired up: Giants quarterback, Eli Manning has been making plays instead of mistakes. Look at last week and his touchdown drive in the last 46 seconds of the first half at the Dallas Cowboys. Today he will need to deal with the fierce pass rush led by Aaron Kampman, Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila and Corey Williams. They have a combined 28 1/2 sacks this NFL football season. Eli Manning handled the Dallas Cowboys  rush pretty well last week, along with the help of his offensive line, tackle David Diehl and guard Chris Snee.

Brett Favre gets rid of the football quicker than Jeff Garcia or Tony Romo, the two quarterbacks the Giants have beaten in postseason. But take your eyes off  Brett Favre and watch Ryan Grant who made most of the Packers big plays against the Seattle Seahawks last week. Ryan had been a backup running back with the New York Giants in the preseason and was traded to the Packers, starting out as a fifth-stringer.  Now he's a star for the Packers!

New York Giants' coach, Tom Coughlin, nearly got fired when his team swooned last season, although they got into the playoffs and lost in the 1st go around. He is now in position for a deserved contract extension with 9 straight NFL wins on the road, including the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Dallas Cowboys in the playoffs.

Some of Green Bay Packers' coach, Mike McCarthy credit should be for reining in Brett Favre enough to eliminate the turnovers that had stagnated his career for so long, besides just being a great coach.

This matchup today could be better than Super Bowl XLII  on February 3!  I'm rooting for the Packers!
