If the Green Bay Packers beat the New York Giants tonight at Lambreau Field, Mike Mccarthy will become the 4th coach in team history to have guided the Packers to an NFL title contest.  He would join Curly Lambreau, Vince Lombardi and Mike Holmgren.

Mike McCarthy was the San Francisco 49ers offensive coordinator for one season before coming to the Packers season 2005-06. He was put in charge of a young football team in major transition. Green Bay had just missed the playoffs for the first time in 14 years and Brett Favre continued in his offseason diva routine. Mike McCarthy has managed to understand and connect with Favre, blend the old and new on the roster and bring a storied franchise back to the upper elite of the NFL.
