| In NFL Football Ticket News the Seattle Seahawks and their all-star, pro-bowl cornerback, Marcus Trufant have agreed to a blockbuster of a deal that does several things for the team. One, it removes their one and only franchise tag from Trufant. Two, it keeps Trufant on the team for several years. And three, it opens up some much needed cap room in their roster for off-season acquisitions. NFL Football Ticket News has learned that the Seahawks and Trufant reached a tentative one year deal with $9-million in guarantees—a deal that will most assuredly work out to a three year deal in the end worth around $30-million. NFL Football Ticket News also learned that this new deal puts Trufant’s annual salary amongst the top five for starting cornerbacks in the league. Considering how valuable he is to the team and in helping them maintain a very strong secondary—it seems that the money was indeed well spent. The deal will keep Trufant in Seattle for at least two to three years and definitely through the 2008 regular season. |
