Reggie Bush of the New Orleans Saints is a force to be dealt with. Redskins free safety LaRon Landry describes him as, “…just deadly, man, deadly. "You always need to know where he is. You always need to watch him, because if you don't, you could be looking at (a touchdown) real quick."
The Redskins will definitely be focusing on him as they host their FedEx Field home opener. Reggie Bush, third-year NFL football player made an impressive performance in the Saints victory over Tampa Bay in their season-opener.
Redskins defensive coordinator, Greg Blache states, "Reggie Bush presents a problem that's totally unique in and of itself," Blache said. "He's better than anybody else in the league right now in a one-on-one situation. He's a Barry Sanders that they use in a lot of different spots. This guy is a game-breaker. He's one of the most exciting people I've seen in my 20 years in the league. He creates mismatches with anybody." Redskins strong safety states, “… he can do whatever they ask him to do. He can do the swings, he can do the screens, and he can be a receiver. He's got the talent to do it all."
Bush is so versatile and the Redskins are currently not in the best position physically to contend with this. Rocky McIntosh is working back into shape from reconstructive knee surgery at the end of the 2007 surgery. Marcus Washington, strong-side linebacker missed most of the practice week with hip and hamstring injuries. Washington missed four games last season and parts of others from the same hamstring injury. Reserve linebackers Alfred Fincher and H.B. Blades will probably have bigger roles in playing the Saints today. No matter who plays this position the Saints are going to use Bush and tight end Jeremy Shockey to come up against them.
Saints July acquisition, Shockey , had six interceptions for 54 yards against Tampa Bay and made a huge impact in the second half of the game, catching the ball in the seams and keeping the chains moving. Blache compares Reggie Bush to fighting Muhammed Ali in the old days. “You knew what he was going to do, and you knew how to fight him, but he still knocked you out a lot of times."
